Your Quick Guide To Comcast Email Headers

Email headers contain vital information about an email message’s origin, routing, and delivery. Knowing how to access email headers is essential to troubleshoot email delivery issues or investigate potential spam. Email headers can provide insights into an email’s path, helping identify issues. For instance, they can reveal if an email was delayed or came from a suspicious source.

Step 1: Log in to Your Xfinity Webmail Account

First, navigate to the Xfinity login page and sign in with your credentials. Once logged in, you’ll see your inbox, where your emails are listed. This is your central hub for managing your email communications.

Step 2: Open the Email Message

Next, locate the email you want to view the headers for and click on it to open the message. Depending on your webmail settings, the message will be displayed in the reading pane or as a separate window. This step is crucial as the email must be fully opened to access its detailed options—you can’t view the headers from a preview pane.

Step 3: Access the “More Actions” Menu

Look for additional options or actions related to the email in the opened email message. These options are usually found in a menu. For Xfinity, look for the three horizontal bars at the top of the message (not the top of the page). Hover over them, and you should see the text “More actions.”

Step 4: Find and Select “View Source”

You should see an action to view the email’s full header within the email options. This option is often labeled as “View Full Header,” “Show Original,” or something similar in other interfaces, but here, it’s called “View source.” Click on it to reveal the complete email headers. This will open a new window or a pane with all the technical details of the email’s journey from the sender to your mailbox.

Since Comcast (a/k/a Xfinity) appears to be using Open-Xchange App Suite, these instructions should probably work for any other provider using that software.
